I went into the files and there was an empty folder named Game Maker Studio 2. I agreednto update, but it didn't do anything. Strange, as i never installed Game Maker before. It said that GameMakerStudio2 was already installed, and asked if i wanted to update it.
Now, assuming I actually understood and answered your query, just make sure to hit 'remind me' instead of 'download now' when prompted to make an update from now on. I downloaded the installer, tried installing and it didn't work. I can't exactly verify it because I don't need to download the installer again, but you should be able to just run it and be good to go.
